Who's Cooking?

You know how most of the time you just ignore when you're neighbor's fire alarm is going off? Well.. you probably shouldn't. Or at least not when it's going off for a long time.

Tanner's neighbor's alarm was going off for a couple minutes when we finally thought to see what was going on. Tanner just barely opened the door and you could see the hallway was completely full of smoke. I think both of us just thought it was smoke from cooking something, not an actual fire, which technically it was both. Tanner being the nice guy he ran his fan over there to keep the smoke away from the fire alarm, and that's when we realized there was actually a fire. Good thing Tanner knew how to use a fire extinguisher, which I need to learn how to, because this guy had no idea. The wife, who was pacing outside the whole time, called the fire department just to make sure everything was okay.

After the fire truck came, lights and sirens blazing, a bunch of unattractive fire fighters got out.. Not the kind of fire fighters a girls hopes to see when they are called, but oh well. Anyway, it was really funny to see the stairwells fill up with people and everyone open up their blinds. I would be doing the same thing, but it's funny to be on the other side of things.

Like I said, full blown for just a kitchen fire.

Firefighters.. Whoop Whoop!

Checking out the put out fire.

First Day of Being A College Sophomore!

What an eventful day. I'm completely drained. I haven't gotten up this early since the chocolate milk incident.. Scroll on my Facebook, I posted about it.. Anyway, I guess that was a couple days ago, but before that I think the last time I got up at 7am was spring semester? Maybe. And when I get up that early I feel so sick, is that just me? I hate that feeling. Wow, I am being really random in this post. ANYWAY, I made Tanner get up with me so he could take my first day of school picture and to eat breakfast with me. Have I mentioned I have the BEST boyfriend in the entire world? Because I do. He spoils me. ANYWAYS, after my picture and breakfast I was off to school. How exciting!

I think this semester is going to be tough, but fun. It seems like I am going to have a lot of busy work. A lot of large projects, at least one in each class. They all seems to be very interesting and fun classes though. I am taking a public speaking class which I am terrified about. I may talk a lot, but I'm not good at constructive speaking. It terrifies me. I still have two more classes to go to tomorrow, but I am really positive about the semester so far!

It's a good start to what I hope is a good semester. Although, I am really sad about that biker that died today on campus.  Very unfortunate to happen on the first day of school. My heart goes out to his family. It will be a solemn day on campus tomorrow, thats for sure.

Getting crafty!

So this post is mostly to brag about myself. I got crafty! And for those of you who don't know me very well.. I'm not crafty at all. To prove my point.. I had to go to Home Depot to get paint, and that was a trip. I walked around that place for 20 minutes before I realized the paint section was right by the front door. And then I walked around the paint section for 5 minutes trying to find the little samples because that's all I needed. Well.. The samples were right by the paint desk of course. After I found them I spent forever trying to figure out which color was which. Turns out, they were all white. You have to add color to them. Who knew? The lady at the counter was laughing at me the whole entire time. I joked with her about how I didn't know what I was doing. She just replied, "obviously."

It's pretty bad how not crafty I am! That's why I am so happy that I did this:

Doesn't it look so good? I'm so happy with myself! No modestly here. I've never done anything like this! I can end my day proud with my pretty new night stand right next to me!

Summer Adventures!

So I haven't posted in a while, but for good reason.. I've been having too much fun! Every since my birthday I have been go go go. It has been such a fun summer and I have probably spent way too much money.. but I'm walking away with some incredible memories and thats what's important right?

A couple days after my birthday I was able to FINALLY go to a Salt Lake Bee's game. I love Bee's games and it's been hard to go to games since I've moved to Logan. So it was super fun. Tanner is in love with baseball so he loves going to games as well. He wanted to sit in the actually seats, but I honestly think it is more fun to sit out on the grass. I might give in though and sit in the seats next time, because I'll give it to him, they are a lot more comfortable then the grass. It was a fun time though, I can't remember if they won or not, I think they lost. But its not really about that to me, I like the atmosphere of the games the most. It's so fun and relaxed. You can just kick back on the grass and watch the game!

That next week was the 24th of July. And I think I have mentioned before that I love this time of the year. I am in love with fireworks and parades so July in Utah is my favorite time of the year. For the 24th my family has a tradition of going to the Bountiful parade every year. My grandma and my great aunt wake up super early in the morning and save us spots in the same place every year. They have to stay there all day so that no one steals them. Once the parade starts that night it's an hour of floats, horses, church groups and bands. Sadly I don't think this years parade was as good as it has been in past years. But it was still so much fun! I love being able to hang out with my family and it was a good excuse to go home!
How cool is this horse? Painted like the American Flag!

Like most celebrations there is a carnival after with food, rides and bouncy houses. Unfortunately for me, I am broke so all I can afford was food. The rides were very appealing though, but holy crap rides are expensive! They are like $5 a ride, its insane! After the carnival their were fireworks so we sat on the grass and watched them. It was such a fun night. I love July, and I am really sad it is over!

Yes, my mom photo bombed us.. She thinks she is so funny.

Doesn't Tanner look cute with his Lei?

My next adventure was actually a work adventure.. but it was still fun! I got to participate in USU's women's clinic with Texas Roadhouse. The women's clinic was the coolest thing ever. It's a free one day training camp for women where they get to play with the players and coaches of the football team. They run drills just like the team does and learn heath tips and tricks. We also got to tour the new athletic training facility which is super cool. I got to meet Coach Wells and a lot of the players. It was such a fun experience and I'm glad I got to be apart of it!

The next day Tanner and I went on a tiny date which turned out to be one of the funnest dates ever. We
went over to Willow Park and hit at the batting cages. Then there were softball games going on so we went over and started game hopping. Just random games, with no one we knew. It was super fun. Then we both were craving nachos from BWW, so we headed over there. It was so much fun. It was simple, but relaxing and fun.
This was the only photo I took, should have taken some of me batting.. oops!

My last adventure so far was the Cache Valley Rodeo. I have never been to a rodeo so it was a new experience for me. Eye opening for sure. I liked the bull riding and saddle bronc riding was super fun to watch. My favorite though was the mutton bustin'. It was hilarious. Those kids are tough and freaking cute. I'll admit though, I wasn't a fan of the roping. Call me a city girl, but it seemed really mean. It was still really fun though, everything else made up for it!

It's been a great summer so far! I've been lucky and been able to do some really fun things. I'm kind of sad it's over. And call me a nerd, but I am actually excited for school to start. Not the getting up early part, but the actual school part. I have a feeling I am going to regret saying that when school actually starts, but for now I'm excited.

My 19th Birthday!

So this one is definitely late in coming. I've almost been 19 for a week now and I am just barely posting about it! Oops. But I had the most amazing birthday weekend a girl could ask for! I also have the most incredible boyfriend with everything he did for me that day and the day after, because like I said it was a whole weekend!

So we were actually both scheduled to work on the morning of my birthday. Tanner usually has to work till 5 or 6 on saturdays but he was a rockstar and was able to get out of there by 3 and luckily I got out at the exact same time as him.

We drove all the way down to Layton and Tanner took me to Famous Dave's! It's my favorite restaurant so I couldn't have been happier! We had ribs and yummy cornbread! And stuffed our faces, well Tanner did. He ate his whole meal, and then half of mine!

Then we went into Salt Lake and Tanner had rented out a room at the Anniversary Inn! We had the Bridal Veil Falls room! It was the coolest place in the whole entire world. Not only was it fun staying in a hotel, it was themed. I don't have any pictures right now, maybe I'll edit this later when I have some, they are on Tanner's phone. The bed board was made out of trees and our tub, was a waterfall! It was so cool. They provided us with a bottle of sparkling cider, cheesecake and then a complementary breakfast!

The next morning after eating breakfast in bed, we headed down to Park City. I think this is how most couples are but we HATE each others driving. We get so irritated with each other when we drive. It's kind of funny actually. Sorry that was random. But we were getting so irritated with each other the whole entire drive down their. He thinks I drive to fast, and he doesn't listen to my directions(which are ALWAYS right). But anyway, we always have a great time on our drives. We like to sing at the top of our lungs and dance. If you go on my Instagram I posted a video of Tanner singing, it was so funny. We are really goofballs though!

So once we were down at Park City Ski Resort, which I love, its like this cute little town all on its own! We did the triple play, which means that we were able to do the alpine slide, zip lining, and the alpine coaster.

We started out on the Alpine Slide. Which was a really good idea because it sucked compared to the other ones. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but the way the lines were set up I wasn't able to go down with Tanner. I had to go down with some guy and his kid, which didn't make it super fun because then I wasn't really racing anyone.

Next, we went on the Zipline. This was one of the scariest but most rewarding experience ever. Once you got to the top of the mountain you waited in line forever, and you had to listen to everyone scream as they go down the zipline. The worst part was when you were actually in the seat and you had to put your feet against the gate. You know that any second that gate is going to open and you are going to go flying down the mountain. But once your going down the mountain its so fun!

(This is just a very unattractive photo of me, sorry!)

Next we went on the Alpine Coaster, which was Tanner's favorite ride. It was like a roller-coaster straight down the mountain. It was pretty fun and it was super fast. I liked it because it was the only ride that Tanner and I actually got to go on together.

After Park City we went to my grandmas for a BBQ. Again we had Ribs and Cornbread, which I love so I didn't care! It was so fun being with my family and opening presents. We also got out our homemade bottle launcher. Tanner was like a little kid. He loved it so much. Thats one thing I love about him is he is a big kid at heart. Anyway, It was seriously the best birthday I could have ever asked for. It was incredible. It just proved to me what an incredible boyfriend I have and how much he loves me!

Nine Months!

So today marks the 9 month anniversary of me and Tanner. Yes I am the girl that keeps track of all the months! I feel like it is okay to do that for the first year. I have had the most incredible nine months with him. He makes me happier than I have ever been before! We drive each other crazy at times(what couple doesn't?), but there isn't anything we can't handle.

We have had the most incredible times together, and since we are at nine months.. Here are nine of my favorite memories with Tanner.

  1. My first favorite memory is actually the first time I really started falling for him. It was his birthday and we went down to Park City and Salt Lake. What is really funny is that we spent the whole drive down to Salt Lake fighting and we weren't even officially dating yet. I was pissed at him for something and he was able to calm me down and if you know me at all, once I get heated its hard to calm me down. So it was the first time that I really saw that he could take care of me and calm me down and that we could work through our problems. After our fight, the day really turned around for the better and we had a lot of fun. I think this was our first actual date as well so it was fun to be out and spending time together.
  2. So my second favorite memory actually happened before my first memory. It was our first all night phone call. And I think everyone knows what I am talking about. The phone call where you just sit and talk for hours, about everything and anything. Both of us pretty much spilled our guts about our whole entire lives and what made us who we are today. This was the first time that we REALLY got to know each other. I love this memory because this is the first time both of us knew we liked each other.
  3. My next favorite memory was probably the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. We had been to his parents house, which is two hours away, and so we had the whole way there and back to just talk about us and what we wanted in our lives. And I think at that point both of us really started to realize we wanted the same things out of life and we were a lot alike. So when we got back from his parents house we went over to his apartment and were laying on his bed. We were still talking about whatever we were talking about and up to that point neither one of us had said I love you yet, but we had both done the hinting at it. Not quite saying it, but saying we "loved spending time with each other." So while we were talking he turned to me and said, "Kelsey, I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?" Probably the two greatest things he has ever said to me within seconds of each other.
  4. My next favorite memory I know is going to surprise Tanner. It's the first time he ever took me snowboarding. We just went up the canyon to his favorite spot. The reason that it is going to surprise him is because I complained the whole entire time about how much I hated it. And yes, I hated it. I suck at snowboarding. But its a favorite memory because it was the first time I got to experience something he loved. He loves snowboarding and I could just tell that day how much he loved it and how happy it makes him.
  5. This will probably come as no surprise to anyone but another favorite memory of mine was Christmas. Christmas is pretty much my favorite holiday, so it was incredible being able to spend it with Tanner. We spent the day down at my families house, opening presents, breakfast, and just hanging out. My favorite part though was when it was just Tanner and I later that night. I love to spoil people, especially him, so I was in heaven buying all his presents and watching him open them. Plus he did a great job himself at picking out presents for me. It was just a great day to show how much we loved each other.
  6. My sixth favorite memory is another snowboarding memory, and like I said these are all going to shock Tanner. But this time when we went snowboarding we just went to Old Main Hill super late at night. I think it had just snowed so it was all powdery. I still suck at snowboarding so I was falling left and right, but Tanner showed his patients with me and would help me back every time and dealt with all my fits about how I hated snowboarding. But now that I think back it was a really great night. I gained really good progress snowboarding, plus we were doing something Tanner loved, and to top it off he really showed me how much he loved me that day by how patient he was being.
  7. So I am getting out of order here but I want to save my two most favorite memories for last. This one was a couple weeks ago for the fourth of July. I love July because its my birthday month, but also there are FIREWORKS. I love fireworks and I love that I got to watch them with Tanner. So every year there are fireworks at USU's stadium and I was dying to see them. So we piled pillows and blankets in the back of Tanner's truck and drove around till we found a place on the side of the road so we could watch the fireworks. We set up the "bed" in the back of his truck. We were about an hour early so we just sat and talked till the show started. It was great just talking to him, but it was also really romantic sitting in the back of a truck watching fireworks.
  8. The Color Festival is one of my favorite memories ever. It was the funnest thing ever. We went with my best friend and her friend. And the color festival is fun to begin with even if you went by yourself you would have a great time, but it was so great going with Tanner and Chelsi! There is just something about getting all dirty and colorful that you can't beat.
  9. So this is probably my favorite memory with Tanner ever, and I think its his too. Tanner wants to become a helicopter pilot. And he had been exploring different schools to attend. He was looking at one in Ogden and one in Boise. Of course, I wanted him to attend the one in Ogden because it was a lot closer to me. So I was going to do everything in my power to get him to go to Ogden. So I planned a date for us to show him around Ogden and also to look at the flight school. So that date started off with lunch. I took him to the Costa Vida that is right by FloRider so that he could see how awesome it was. And of course he loved it, the Californian coming out of him. After lunch we headed over to the school to have an Intro Flight, where an instructor takes him up in a helicopter and then lets him fly a little. So we were there for a while, and he was about to go up in the little two person helicopter that they usually go up in, but it wouldn't start. So instead he was able to fly in a larger helicopter, which was super lucky for me, because then he got to fly me as well. It was super fun. I had never been in a helicopter before so it was such a cool experience, plus Tanner was helping fly the helicopter so it made it twice as cool.

So those are my nine favorite memories. There are probably a million more that I just can't think of! But I am so thankful to have been able to spend the last nine months of my life with such an incredible guy. He means the world to me and I am seriously the luckiest girl alive. I love you Tanner!

My First Rant.. oops!

Sooo.. I know this is way cliche, and on my second blog post I shouldn't be ranting, but I just have to put it out there. It happened to me today and I'm still upset about it, actually I am always upset about it. And EVERYBODY should know this:

If you get food from a RESTAURANT you tip. Even if you are only getting a take-out order, you tip.

Even though the person handing you your food hasn't waited on you for an hour, they still gave a service to you that should be rewarded. If you don't want to cook yourself food that day and you are making someone else prepare it for you, you should give a thank you (with a tip). That simple. Yet nobody does it!

I think the worst is when people acknowledge that they should tip you, but don't. I had a guy come into my work today and I was getting his take out ready for him. I had asked him if he wanted a drink on the house while he was waiting, threw in extra rolls for him, and got him the three extra sauces that he had asked for (that we usually don't provide on take out).  He asked me if he was supposed to tip on take out. I told him that most people do, but its up to the person (which was a lie, but I was hoping he would get the hint that he needed to tip). He then said, "Oh good. I'm not going to tip you then."

It's seriously the most irritating thing. I understand that I didn't grant your every wish for an hour, as I would if you were to sit down and eat, so I don't deserve as big of a tip as servers do. All I am asking for is some sort of thank you. Even a dollar would be appreciated. I NEVER complain if I get tipped a dollar. Because at least they are acknowledging that I did something for them!

So tip your server, tip the take-out.

Okay, I'm done. That's my first rant, but probably not my last.
